Shortly after the earthquake in January 2011, the first flour container donated from Rogers Foods in Chilliwack, BC arrived in Haiti. It was destined for the Heart to Heart Children’s Home that had been substantially damaged, leaving the children, volunteers and the community short of food, water and supplies. Pastor Luc immediately sent some of the flour to a local bakery to have bread baked for the compound. Heart to Heart provides shelter and meets the spiritual, educational and health needs of homeless children. We received this thank you from Gary Stephens, the Pastor at Abbotsford Vineyard Church, but it is we who thank Gary and all of the other volunteers who are helping in Haiti.
“The earthquake on January 12, 2010 devastated Heart to Heart’s compound as well as the community of Grand Goave. Heart to Heart was left struggling to feed our 100+ kids and 450+ students as well as hundreds of displaced community members. Thanks to the generosity of people like Rogers we were able to not only look after our own but share with the entire community. The flour was distributed through the local Association of Pastors and reached thousands of people… most of whom didn’t know where their next meal would come from. In a time of desperation Rogers helped meet the people’s physical need as well as give them hope for tomorrow.”
